Be a powerful force for change!

We'd like to share with you the enduring importance of mentorship-a gift that keeps on giving to both Bigs (mentors) and Littles (mentees). It's a journey of shared wisdom and growth, empowering youth to reach their full potential.

Mentorship is also a powerful force for change in our ever-evolving world. It fosters resilience and adaptability in the face of uncertainty and JOY. It fuels dreams and aspirations, propelling individuals towards a brighter future.

Big Brothers Big Sisters brings youth and mentors together to create friendships that can last a lifetime. Like Little Brother,Seven and Big Brother, Matthew who are our 2023 Match of the Year. They were matched in 2019. At the time Seven was a shy 2nd grader and Matthew was a Freshman at High Point University. Seven was having difficulty interacting with his teachers and other students. He was scoring below grade level in math and reading.

Matthew visited Seven once a week at his school. During their time together they played sports and games involving reading and goal setting. During Covid when our Bigs and Littles couldn't see one another in person, Matthew would email or call Seven almost daily to check on him and his family until they were able to see one another in person again.

What makes this match special is their relationship and how much of a positivie and meaningful impact it has had on both of their lives. For instance, after a year of being matched Seven's reading and math grades improved. He is now at grade level.

Matthew shared, "We inspire others by showing them that this isn't just a volunteer program. It is truly a special relationship that will carry on for the rest of our lives."

Thank you for being a part of their story and so many other like theirs! It is because of YOU and your generosity that we can provide the gift of mentorship.
